write some raps!
One thing that can be such a come-down after something like Festival is going back to your own church the following week and feeling like God has been left behind in a tent somewhere and that the worship/prayer/teaching you experienced was all just a dream. I know I certainly had that feeling yesterday sat in a methodist church that had the feel of an old people's home as we HUMMED (yes, i said hummed) happy birthday (because we didn't want to get too over excited).
So what do we do? Well, we could all just leave the church and just hop from one Christian festival to the other, living permanently in tents and never really getting clean. However, I'm not sure that's a good long-term answer! Camp food for a week is ok, but a lifetime? No thanks.
One thing we can do is get involved. Try to change things. Craig our rapper has written up his raps and said we can put them on the blog for anyone to use. Even better they might inspire some of you to write your own (put them in the comments so we can have a look!). You don't even need to rap them, you could just read them in church. So get writing and get asking your minister/youthworker/anyone if you can read them and get involved in making your worship at your home church what you want it to be.
I look to return to the places i've previously been
things i've infrequently seen
revelations of a heart that manifests the father's love
I've stood in this place in a life that now seems left behind
a time in which i loved my Lord - strength, soul, heart, mind
But somehow in the year that's passed I've seen that passion dwindle
swindled from my birthright, Lord would you rekindle
that flame would you reign deep inside of me
would your love shine from my eyes sharing heaven's glory silently
I struggle to reconcile your grace
when i'm presented with the hurt that's caused when i think of that face
yet in this place
in the face of a years apparent waste
i remember
the tender words that render worse that I could live a life of freedom as if it was cursed
I am the worst of sinners
an absolute begginer
only able to stand through the mercy of your hands
pierced for my transgressions
so that i could learn lifes only worthwhile lesson
that while all earthly things fade and and all worldy wisdom ends
I could have no greater love than this
To lay down my life for my friend.
****************************************************
Uncomortably I stand
Mic in hand
hoping to enter the presence of the almighty
though this might be the hundreth time
somehow like the bread and the wine
it cant fail to excite me
But ever so slightly - I feel unsightly
Still failing to grasp that i need only to seek, knock and ask
so i speak to God of the past
the present the future
put into sharp focus by the words Jesus spoke
so that no man can convolute the
message
His breath is near.
Carressing every ear that is open to hear the blessings
And yet I stand here confessing
I still dont fully understand why I have a hand in it all
So now to the call.
Open your hearts.
Set this moment apart.
May this be a time that our Lord can treasure
A time we can look to and say "that was the beggining of forever"
as shoulder to shoulder we stand in the community of the redeemed
the only thing we really have in common is the unity of Jesus holding us in such high esteem
But that will always be enough.
so that through tearful eyes we can bring
the greatest words that a child can ever sing
But i trust.

Hi we were actually brave in our methodist church of mostly over 70's. for starters we were trying something newasa sevice and me and my friend tryed beat boxing(unsuccesfully )to some of the songs.
yet what suprised the old people was when at the end of one of the songs we burst out in to:
god you know you think your sublime whenever i need you, you always got time
god you know i think your sublime i praise you in spirit and i praise you in rhyme
and well they were all shocked but in the end managed to get there heads around it.
so the moral of this story is A) watch out i write to much
b) dont be afraid to trry something new coz u never no what might happen.
um yes i no its to long
but i just wanted to say thankyou to Gem and Nick (i hope i got that right)who did the worship workshop they really inbspired me both days

24 August, 2006 21:11
hurry up and update the site i mean if you cant keep it up to date, dont have it , simple i think your just wasting our time like by saying oh yeah we'l email you with this and go on the site , we'l put up all the picture and keep it current ect. you ovbioulsy cant do this so why say it? you may say oh yeah we try ect and oh we're so busy but its just excused. everyones busy all its takes is 5-10 mins to update so why not? you say you'l do it but you dont so isnt that a lie? isnt lieing wrong as we are told by god? basically sort it out we pay hundreds of pounds to go to the festival, make our way down from miles away have a good time whislt we're there and then thats it and you expects people to keep their faith with help from you lot but we get nothing from you.me and all the other people in my youth group and church just feel dissapointed with cliff college and the students. its such a shame.
06 September, 2006 13:09
It is worth pointing out that it is not the college's fault nor the students that this site is not kept up to date!!!
18 September, 2006 11:12
no its not worth pointing that out because if its not either the college or students falut , whose is it? there is not third party here, the students started this blog and told everyone yeah yeah you posted and updated but they havnt. this link is on the cliff college website adn under the festvail section of youth or whatever and the picture is of students so doesnt that imply they have something to do with it maybe?????just a big letdown by everyone at cliff college, our church and youth group of 20 have decided not to go again next year as we'l feel scammed with promises of regular emails of updates.cliffs a disgrace and its boring there aswell
24 September, 2006 13:57
Such a waste guys, not sure how this has not been kept up to date but a real shame
27 October, 2006 09:33
i second that, man cliff college is such a letdown cliff scollege is so poor now i wish it was like it used to be when they cared!
06 November, 2006 01:08
Hi guys
really sorry you are feeling like this. And sorry that the blog hasn't been updated for ages. There are lots of reasons, but all I can say is that the college, the students and the youthteam really care about the young people who come to the festival and try to do our best, but sometimes that's not good enough and things get in the way of what we intended.
Sorry.
we're working on getting people to update the blog more regularly and will do our best.
For now, please bear with us. The blog has been a big project for the college to take on, maybe too big, but we really believe in it and want to try to keep it going.
